Vancouver became the centre of the world’s attention this summer as Canada welcomed FIFA World Cup 2026. Alongside the global sporting spectacle, the Government of British Columbia created something uniquely BC: BC Business House — a business networking and showcase hub at the Vancouver Convention Centre designed to connect industry leaders, government officials, and international partners during the tournament.

A World-Class Business Stage

Over the past month, BC Business House hosted sector showcases, executive panels, and industry networking events that brought together businesses from across BC and beyond. Presented by the Government of British Columbia, Invest in Canada, and Invest Vancouver, it was a venue purpose-built for commerce, conversation, and connection — and it delivered on all three.

Seven sector showcases covered British Columbia’s key economic pillars, while executive panels brought together some of the province’s most influential voices. The final event — a Round of 16 Match Viewing and Networking reception — brought the month to a fitting close at the Vancouver Convention Centre West on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

BSIA of BC at the Table

At the personal invitation of the BC Government — and specifically at the invitation of Minister Ravi Kahlon of the Ministry of Jobs and Economic Growth — BSIA of BC was represented at the final event. Attending on behalf of the association were:

Thomas Foreman
President, BSIA of BC
Alex Yakovyshenko
Chair, BSIA of BC
Ron Tu
Director, BSIA of BC

Being in the room alongside business leaders and government officials from across BC reflects the kind of profile that BSIA aims to carry in the broader business community. Building supply is not a sideline industry — it is foundational to every sector that BC Business House was celebrating. Transportation, technology, trade and logistics, manufacturing: the materials that move BC’s economy come through the supply chains our members operate. Having a seat at that table matters.

The Match, the Room, and the Moment

Guests checked in at 12:30 pm ahead of a 1:00 pm kickoff, with the Round of 16 match providing a shared backdrop for a room full of conversations that mattered. Events like this create the conditions for the kind of relationship-building that doesn’t happen over email — the chance encounter that becomes a new partnership, or the government contact that leads to an open door months later.

For BSIA, moments like BC Business House are part of a broader intention: to ensure that the building supply industry is visible, respected, and heard at every table where BC’s economic future is being shaped. FIFA World Cup 2026 brought an extraordinary spotlight to Vancouver. BC Business House channelled that energy into something lasting. And BSIA was there for it.

BSIA of BC extends its sincere thanks to the BC Business House team for their world-class hospitality and for the opportunity to represent our industry at this historic occasion.
