The Building Supply Industry Association of B.C. offers TDG and WHMIS training programs online. Below are the courses offered and the members costs:

TDG - Transportation of Dangerous Goods
The transportation of dangerous goods rail and road is regulated in Canada under the federal Transportation of Dangerous Good Act, 1992. The
Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, adopted by all provinces and territories, establishes the safety requirements for the transportation of dangerous goods. Federal and provincial legislation provide for the regulation of an extensive list of products, substances or organisms classified as dangerous.

TDG Training

The TDG Regulations require that, with few exceptions, every person engaged in the handling, selling, offering for transport or transporting of dangerous goods be trained in the aspects of handling such goods. Employers must provide training and a Training Certificate to employees who are adequately trained. Self-employed individuals must also determine if they are adequately trained and issue tremselves a training certificate. The cost is $34.95 for BSIA members and $36.95 for non members per student. Once registered with the BSIA the student will be provided with the course link, a user name and password. Once a student completes the course the computer will mark it and provide an automatic printout of the certificate. The student has one year to go through the program.

WHMIS - Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is Canada's hazard communication standard. The key elements of the system are cautionary leveling of containers of WHMIS "controlled products", the provision of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and worker education programs.

WHMIS is implemented through coordinated federal, provincial and territorial legislation. Supplier labeling and MSDS requirements are set out under the Hazardous Products Act and its regulations are administered by the Government of Canada Department of Health.

WHMIS Training

In Canada, all employers are required by law to provide WHMIS instruction to all employees who work in contact with, or in proximity to, any materials defined as "hazardous". In every work environment there is a wide range of materials and products that can be hazardous to a worker's health if they are not handled properly. Cleaning products, solvents, paints, glues, and toners are just a sample of some of the hazardous materials that can have adverse health effects. The ultimate goal is to create a safer work place by providing workers with the knowledge and tools to enable them to work safely.
